This is a collection of biology lessons on various branches of biology. Learn about the human body, plants, animals, and everything in between...
DEFINATION OF BIOLOGY:
The name biology is taken out from Greek letters BIOS which means life and LOGOS which means study or discourse and together it is study of life.
BRANCHES OF BIOLOGY:
ZOOLOGY:
Zoo terms is referred with animals ,so deals with the study of structure, function and nature of animals and their interaction with ecosystem.
BOTANY:
It is a vital branch of biology which emphasizes the study of plants ,conditions of their living and their importance regarding life.
MICROBIOLOGY:
Microbiology defined as the study of tiny and little organisms which can only be seen with the help of microscope and can not be stare with naked eyes
Such as virus ,bacteria and algae.
ENVIRONMENTAL BIOLOGY:
It indicates the study and discussion about surrounding environment and its impact on aspects of living organisms and their life.
MOLECULAR BIOLOGY:
It is a branch of biology which handles the macro molecules of organism and structure of cell and their organelles (little organs).
PARASITOLOGY:
It is defined as the study of parasites ,the organisms which are dependent on their host cell to survive and grow with in it.
Such as Lice ,mosquitoes, liver fluke etc.
HUMAN BIOLOGY:
Human biology discloses the study of homosepiens (Man),including their structure, function, anatomy, morphology and ecology with each other.
BIOTECHNOLOGY:
It is combination of biological methods and techniques ,data of engineering and technology to solve problems mainly related to human beings
For example: the discovery of antibiotic penicillin.
GENETICS:
It emphasizes the study of gene(the character containing component) heredity and variation in inheritance as it passes from generation to generation .
HISTOLOGY:
Histology deals with the study of tissues in the living body of plant and animals under the influence microscope.
PALEONTOLOGY:
It conducts the study of fossils of plants and animals that lived in the remote pass and now found as fossils
Fossils study of plants are called paleontobotany
Fossils study of animals are called paleontozoology.
TAXONOMY:
It deals with the description, identification, classification and scientific naming of living organisms according to their similarities and dissimilarities .
MYCOLOGY:
Mykes is a Greek term used to describe the fungi and it's body (mycellium) so it is particularly the study of fungi such as mushroom.
ANATOMY:
Ana means up
Tomy means cut
It elaborates the study of internal structure of organisms like animals and in plants it deals with the arrangement of different types of tissues in root ,stem and leaf etc.
MORPHOLOGY:
Morpho means shape or form
Morphology is the study of external characteristics of plants and animals .
PHYSIOLOGY:
Physio means function
It is branch of biology which emphasizes the study of function and activities of various organs inside the organism like plants and animals.
BIOCHEMISTRY:
It is a conjugated branch of biology and chemistry which conducts the study of chemical reactions taking place in an organism .
BIOPHYICS:
It is also a conjugated branch of biology which deals with the study of approaches and methods of physics to help the biological aspects and phenomena.
MARINE BIOLOGY:
It deals with the study of life in seas and oceans ,this includes the study of organisms living in the sea and physical and chemical characteristics of their environment.
FRESH WATER BIOLOGY:
Fresh water biology is the study of organisms living in fresh water like river and ponds ,and physical and chemical characteristics of fresh water bodies.
SOCIAL BIOLOGY:
It is the study of social behaviour and communal life of human beings ,it also concerned with the social interaction within a population of a given animal species.
ECOLOGY:
Ecology is the study of relationship of organisms with each other and with their non living environments, it concerns with individual, population, community, ecosystem and biosphere .
EMBROLOGY AND DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY:
It deals with study of an embryo and development and growth of an organism from zygote to embryo ,embryo to fetus ,fetus to infant and infant to a baby and so on.
PATHOLOGY:
It is branch of biology which deal with the study of diseases and their effects on living organisms .
VIROLOGY:
Virology deals with study of virus and viral diseases
Virus is derived from a Latin word which venome or poison.
CENTRAL THOUGHT:
Biology is an important branch of science as the living organism and their life is dependent on it ,apparently it provides authentic and deep knowledge to know better about life and it also tells the interesting and astonishing reasons and facts to survive.
